At the River of Time in Bay City, Michigan, reenactors from the mid-Michigan area gather for a weekend to travel back through history. While they portray characters from United States’ history, they are also characters themselves, walking experts of the periods they portray. -- Jim "Pee Wee" Martin of Carlton portrays a World War II U.S. Army 101st Airborne Division, 2nd Battalion, 502nd Parachute Infantry Regiment paratrooper. Martin owns all the gear that paratroopers would have carried during their jumps into Nazi occupied territory.
Kristen Henry of Flint portrays a World War II U.S. Army Captain in the Women's Army Corps Allied Headquarters Command. During World War II women were more widely accepted in military roles.
David Keeley of Beaverton portrays a sergeant in the 42nd Royal Highland Regiment nicknamed "The Black Watch." The unit was made up of Scottish soldiers who fought with the British during the Revolutionary War.
Elijah Gross, 18, of Midland, portrays a civilian fighting with the 1st New York in the Continental Army during the Revolutionary War.
Kurt Loewe of Royal Oak portrays a British WWI soldier during the summer of 1916. Loewe, a longtime reenactor has complete uniforms from several time periods.
Byron McDade of Detroit portrays an infantry solider in the 102nd Regiment United States Colored Troops. The unit was formed on February 23, 1863 and included some former slaves who escaped on the Underground Railroad.
